This is a listing of the first minority male attorneys in the United States and for each individual state. If available, the following data is also provided:
- The year in which the minority male lawyers were admitted to practice law (shown in parentheses).
- An inclusion of the first minority male attorneys who were the following:
- The first minority men in their state to obtain a law degree.
- The first men to practice law who are part of a particular faith.
- The first minority men to become a judge or achieve a special designation (e.g., first faculty member).
- The first minority men (regardless of faith or ethnicity) who started their law practice in a certain region (arranged by county name).
Also, at the beginning of each state, there is a mention of the first Caucasian male lawyer (if it is known) to offer a historical perspective.
For certain entries, there are debates as to who the "first" minority male lawyer may have been in his respective state. In which case, several names may have been provided in order to promote further research.
